The Torpedo Factory Art Center, which opened its doors in 1974 in an abandoned munitions plant, is home to the nation's largest collection of working artists' open studios all under one roof. This Alexandria landmark has been a fixture on the Potomac Riverfront for nearly 50 years, drawing approximately 500,000 visitors per year to its waterfront location. Find artists actively creating work in a wide variety of media–including painting, ceramics, photography, jewelry, stained glass, fiber, printmaking, and sculpture–in 82 artists’ studios. Observe and ask questions about the creative process as it unfolds. Purchase original work for your own collection.
