The Tasting Room

The Tasting Room began as a small wine bar and retail shop in 2003. Since then, we've grown into Houston's largest and best west bar, serving exquisite wines, beers, cocktails, chef-inspired cuisine, and even a good cigar collection. At CityCentre, on Houston's western outskirts, we are happy to serve our customers. Jerry Lasco opened The Tasting Room in 2003 after retiring from the Air Force and flying for Continental Airlines. He had the idea to create a wine bar using a retail-pricing model rather than a restaurant model so that guests would never experience sticker shock when seeing their favorite wine priced three or even four times the retail price. Jerry primarily desired to create a welcoming and informal environment in which friends and neighbors might enjoy fine wine. The first Uptown facility (since closed) grew from 900 square feet to nearly 7,000 square feet throughout the years. Cocktails have been added to the menu, as well as a chef-driven culinary program. These gourmet pairings are now available at The Tasting Room CityCentre! The Tasting Room is an excellent meeting and event room for both business and social gatherings. For these and other parties, rent our private dining room, main restaurant, or patio area. A charcuterie bar, a private event space, and two terrace sections will be available to couples. Weddings have the option of renting the full facility or just the areas they require. In a reception-style configuration, clients can welcome up to 350 guests if they chose to take over the entire facility. The rooms each have a different capacity. The Napa Room can accommodate up to 25 people, while the Burgundy Room can accommodate up to 65 people. The Sonoma Terrace can seat up to 50 people, while the Chef's Table can seat up to 25 people. Outside, couples can book the entire outdoor terrace, which can hold up to 200 people.
