The Mount

The Mount is a vibrant cultural center that is also a historic house museum, and it offers a wide variety of tours, programs, and events for you to participate in and enjoy. Exchange your vows and mingle with loved ones against the backdrop of The Mount's vibrant, award-winning formal gardens and the elegant interior of Edith Wharton's historic mansion. The Mount was the setting for many of Edith Wharton's writings. The gracious and breathtaking estate, which encompasses close to 50 acres, is an ideal location for a wedding that guests will never forget. You can hold your wedding ceremony in either the exquisite French Flower Garden, which was modeled after the grounds at Versailles, or the intimate Italian Garden, which was modeled after the architecture of the Renaissance period. After the ceremony, you and your guests can enjoy cocktails on the spacious terrace, which offers sweeping views of The Mount's immaculately landscaped grounds and the mountains in the distance. The estate and gardens, which offer a number of different settings to choose from, are able to host weddings of varying sizes to meet the requirements of each individual couple. We will offer suggestions, but we strongly encourage you to make original decisions in order to personalize your celebration. During the time of your event, the estate will be closed to the general public, allowing your guests the opportunity to explore the house and gardens in complete privacy. Both the Main House and the primary programming space meet the requirements of the ADA.
