The Fulton is Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's first seafood restaurant, and it's in an area of town where he fell in love with the vibrancy of the former Fulton Fish Market in 1986. The menu, which pays homage to The Seaport's past, focuses on the best ingredients and the abundance of the sea and beyond. Vongerichten has created a devoted following of diners who follow him across the world for four decades. ABC Kitchen, abcV, and Public Kitchen in New York, Market in Paris, and Mercato in Shanghai and Guangzhou are among the chef's 36 (and counting) restaurants. The Seaport's unique nautical heritage has been woven into the textures of The Fulton, which Vongerichten and interior designers Yabu Pushelberg have created as a venue to link New Yorkers and visitors with the city's maritime past. The restaurant's main dining floor is encircled by hand-painted murals by painters Diego Castao and Chandler Noah. The work, titled "South of Cape Horn" and inspired by Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, relates the narrative of explorers who embark on a chance expedition in quest of a rumored sea monster. The restaurant's waterfront location provides a unique New York dining experience, complete with patio seating and some of the best unobstructed views of the Brooklyn Bridge.
