What is included in the venue rental cost?
The private use of the property and the option to entertain in the Carriage House, Courtyard and/or the Historic House are included in the rental cost. The rental also includes private touring of Decatur House and two-three Site Managers who will be on site from set-up through clean-up.
Does your venue have on-site parking available for guests?
Unfortunately no, however, several garages are located within walking distance. Street parking is also an option, especially on weekends or after 6:30 p.m. during the week. Decatur House is also accessible via Metro (Farragut West & Farragut North stations). Shuttle or valet is also an option.
Does the venue have an approved or preferred vendor list?
Yes. While Decatur House highly recommends choosing a caterer from our Preferred Vendor List, we do make exceptions. To be considered, full-service catering companies not on the list must furnish the Director of Special Events with its business license, insurance policy, and list of references.
Is the venue handicap accessible?
Yes. The entrance at 1610 H Street is ADA accessible. There is also an elevator and a lift available to access the Upper Level Entertaining Parlors.
What hotels are in walking distance to Decatur House?
There are many hotels near Decatur House. Clients have chosen to hold rooms at The Mayflower Hotel, The Hay-Adams Hotel, St. Regis, Capitol Hilton, The Grand Hyatt, The Sofitel Lafayette Square, and the W Washington, D.C. All of these and more hotels can be found at washington.org.

Arioth has led the Special Events Rental team at the White House Historical Association since 2005 and is responsible for its consistent recognition as one of the top event venues in the Washington, D.C. metro area. She currently serves on the National Association of Catering and Events Board of Directors as the Secretary/Treasurer and Student Member Chair. Arioth holds a BA in English Literature from the University of Virginia.
