The Barnhill Center at Historic Simon Theatre

The Barnhill Center is located in Downtown Brenham, Texas, at the Historic Simon Theatre. The Barnhill Complex is a multi-purpose conference and event center located midway between Houston and Austin. The Simon Theatre, which opened in 1925 and was designed in the majestic Beaux-Arts Classical Revival architectural style, provided a magnificent venue for many theater events, film screenings, and ballroom dances. To create the theatre for the city of Brenham, the James Simon family commissioned Houston architect Alfred C. Finn, whose career included creating a number of important Houston buildings as well as the San Jacinto Monument. Today, thanks to a multimillion-dollar refurbishment, the glitz and opulence of the historic Simon Theatre is preserved for future generations in the Barnhill Center at Historic Simon Theatre. Hasskarl Auditorium is a 321-seat theatre that has been restored to its former glory using cutting-edge technologies such as Digital Cinema Projection. Meetings, conferences, classic and independent films, live music and performances, and wedding ceremonies can all be held there. Meetings, galas, receptions, dances, and other memorable events can all be held in the Bullock Ballroom. With 1925 oak floors, crystal and brass chandeliers, and gold Chiavari chairs, any gathering in this venue intended for up to 220 people can be over the top elegant. The event is enhanced by cutting-edge audio/visual equipment. Morriss Hall is The Barnhill Center's newest addition, set to open in Spring 2020. Morriss Hall is a modern and comfortable conference space with state-of-the-art projection and sound equipment, an open floor plan, carpeted flooring throughout the space, modern lighting features, and an airwall to divide the space if needed – all with beautiful views of and easy access to Downtown Brenham.
