From its beginnings as a rustic New England farm in 1798 to the famed Montague Farm commune (1968-2002) and the Zen Peacemakers (2002-2011), 177 Ripley Road appears to have been a source of inspiration throughout history. In order to carry on that tradition, Montague Retreat Center has established a goal to make this unique venue available to the public for private activities such as weddings, workshops and cultural events, as well as overnight retreats (corporate as well as educational). The Montague Retreat Center is a hidden gem located in the rolling hills of the upper Pioneer Valley. It is a haven for those seeking peace and quiet. There are various options for adding a personal touch to your wedding, ranging from single-day activities to entire wedding weekend celebrations. We have a variety of indoor and outdoor venues spread across our vast property. Our lush Ceremony Circle, which is nestled up to the apple orchard and beneath one of the oldest maple groves in Massachusetts, offers a breathtaking vista across the valley to the surrounding mountains. Our Stone Patio is equipped with a permanent reception tent measuring 40' x 50' and a retaining wall/bench measuring 75' in length. Its magnificent, rustic Great Hall Barn features chestnut beams and bamboo floors, as well as plenty of glass and geothermal heating and air conditioning. Beginning in 2022, our couples will have the opportunity to engage with Wheelhouse, our unique in-house caterer.
