Opened in October of 2018, Recreation is the latest installment from restauranteur and nightlife operator Jon Neidich of Golden Age Hospitality. Located upstairs at Moxy NYC Downtown Hotel in the Financial District, Recreation is a 5000 sq. ft. communal co-working space by day and a bar by night - serving as the ultimate living room for the neighborhood. The cocktail program—designed by Jim Kearns—showcases one of the most advanced tap cocktail systems in the country. The food menu at Recreation features all-day, evening, and late night dishes from Chef Akhtar Nawab of Alta Calidad. Drawing inspiration from the rec room at your neighbor's house, Recreation also features an old school Arcade Machine with games like Ms. Pacman and a half court-sized basketball court– designed to host events or just play ball. The only truly private event space in Recreation, the “Flex Space,” is a fully functioning half-basketball court with floor to ceiling windows, an authentic retro gym floors imported from a Midwestern high school, a state-of-the-art projector, foosball, and optional ping pong table. Whether you’re looking to shoot some hoops, host a daytime meeting, milestone birthday party, networking reception, shower, or any other type of special event, Recreation's Flex Space is the perfect setting for it all.
