We offer a space to investigate words and language that is based on a strong foundation of language arts and science through distinctive, immersive educational experiences. The historic Franklin School, which houses Planet Word, is a spectacular location for your most significant private and business events thanks to its enormous windows, elaborate ironwork, and high ceilings. What memories are you going to make here? The Franklin School's architectural focal point and Planet Word's premier event space both during the day and at night is the Bloomberg Philanthropies Great Hall. Turning a key causes the 4,800-LED globe that serves as the focal point of the Speaking World exhibit to rise to the 22-foot-high ceiling, transforming itself into a beautiful chandelier. The exquisite, adaptable Great Hall is unlike any other event venue in Washington thanks to its fourteen-foot windows overlooking Franklin Square, trompe l'oeil frescoes, and ancient proscenium arch. This is a unique location for gatherings and festivities of all kinds thanks to the exposed beams, wood floors, and frescoed walls that date back to the eighteenth century. At the top of the Franklin School, beneath a lofty mansard roof, this area can be set up for formal meals, performances, meetings, or receptions. For indoor/outdoor gatherings, the Mansard Room and Rooftop Terrace can be joined. The Rooftop Terrace is a stunning outdoor location for pre-dinner cocktails, post-dinner dessert, or a sunset celebration, with views to the north and west across lush Franklin Square and the rooftops of D.C.'s K Street corridor. For indoor/outdoor gatherings, the Rooftop Terrace and Mansard Room can be joined.
