Payne Meadows, located approximately 12 miles west of Murphy, NC, is your rustic barn wedding and event venue serving the western North Carolina communities of Murphy, Andrews, Hayesville and Robbinsville, NC as well as Blue Ridge, Blairsville and Hiawasse, GA to Cleveland, Copperhill and Tellico Plains, TN. Our close proximity to these towns make us a great fit to host your wedding day, elopment, destination wedding, birthday celebration, family reunion, anniversary, or any celebration hoping to be cherished forever. The property consists of 38 acres of rolling pastures split in half by a cool running stream that twist and turns throughout the property. The property's elevated portions showcases beautiful mountainous views of western North Carolina for miles while overlooking the entire property. The property is owned by Ronnie & Linda Payne and the venue is currently operated by Ms. Linda and son, Robert Payne. The property has been in the family for over six generations dating back to the middle 1800's. Our earliest known Payne heir first settled in the Hothouse community in 1853 on land given to Nehemiah Payne via North Carolina state land grants. Ronnie's parents, Elva & Harold Payne, built the barn located on the property in the early 1950's and worked the land raising cattle and horses. The barn was a symbol of pride and hard work to the elder Harold Payne. Elva & Harold raised four children on the farm that sustained the family for many years before logging timber became the preferred job of choice. Following the passing of Ms. Elva, the farm place was left to Ronnie who then decided to save and restore the beloved barn that was so vital in its time to the property. As caretakers of the property, Ronnie & Linda began to fall in love again so to speak with the property and its beauty.
