Nina May

Nina May is the creation of Co-Owners Colin McClimans and Danilo Simic, who are also the Executive Chef and General Manager, respectively. McClimans and Simic, who had previously collaborated on projects, set out to create a true neighborhood restaurant in their hometown. Nina May, named after their daughters' names, is a New American restaurant in the Shaw neighborhood of Washington, DC, that opened in 2012. Local and seasonal ingredients are used in this family-style restaurant, which sources its ingredients from farms within 150 miles of the city. McClimans, who is dedicated to supporting local small businesses and preserving the farms and fisheries of the community, uses only the freshest, most flavorful ingredients from the region to create his distinctive cuisine. The menu is constantly changing as a result of the use of only seasonally available ingredients. This allows guests to sample a wide variety of dishes by sharing small and large plates of food with one another. Nina May's "Chef's Choice" dining experience is a one-of-a-kind dining experience. We invite you to sample this one-of-a-kind, seasonally inspired dining experience. Chef's Choice allows you to sample and learn about some of our favorite dishes on the menu while dining with us. Because this menu is intended to be shared, we ask that you bring a minimum of two people to the table. There are also a la carte options available. Besides offering an excellent dining experience, Nina May also offers an extensive cocktail menu created by the talented Simic, a former mixologist. With its innovative take on classic cocktails, Simic demonstrates how to strike the perfect balance between simple ingredients and modern infusions. Nina May boasts two full-service bars that serve an extensive cocktail menu as well as a selection of unusual wines. McClimans and Simic, who own and operate their business as a family, have truly opened their home to the community, and they hope that those who come to visit will feel at home.
