"Where Coconut Grove Meets the Bay" About us: Opened in 1969 Monty's Raw Bar has grown through the years to become one of Miami's most well known and respected restaurants. Our iconic location has served as the backdrop for TV series, music videos, and movies including Miami Vice, Burn Notice, and Marley & Me. The waterfront tiki hut location allows you to forget about life for a bit while you enjoy a fantastic lunch with friends and family while soaking up the bay air. Our inside area is ideal for air-conditioned dining and parties, and our docks enable you to arrive by boat, hold a private event, fishing tournament, or wedding ceremony on the water. Monty Trainer: Monty, a native of Key West, wanted to bring a taste of his hometown to Coconut Grove. He built "Monty's Conch," a modest breakfast nook and petrol station, two years after graduating from the University of Florida. Monty eventually expanded his restaurant empire to include locations in Boca Raton, Orlando, Atlanta, and Key West. He sold his rights to "Monty's" but his legacy is still very much alive with our raw bar and the Coconut Grove Arts Festival which he founded and is now in it's 54th year.
