Leon's Oyster Shop

We encourage you to have a unique event experience in the Oyster Shed at Leon's: an informal, more laid-back gathering; kick back, laugh loudly, and enjoy your celebration. Our facility, which is housed in a historic Charleston home, incorporates much of the reclaimed, comfy charm that makes LEON'S so appealing. Imagine reclaimed wood, high ceilings, exposed beams, old masonry, and the same lighting as our LEON'S dining room, along with a custom-built community table that seats 24 people. This compact area can be expanded to accommodate an extra 36 people by extending onto a private brick patio that is attractively lighted and manicured. Our food and beverage offerings are meant to promote the kind of relaxed, welcoming, family-style atmosphere that one expects at the best Lowcountry events. If you're searching for a lunchtime event, we also welcome parties of up to 40 people at Melfi's, our sister property, for a sunny and elegant Italian lunch. Leon's Fine Poultry & Oyster Shop is a welcoming Southern eatery that serves fried chicken, oysters, a variety of salads, cheap beer, soft serve, Rose on tap, a large selection of grower Champagne, and excellent cocktails. The restaurant is located in an ancient body shop that had belonged to Leon Ravenel, a long-time Charleston industrialist. Much of that industrial heritage is preserved in the room, which includes working garage doors, concrete flooring, and some souvenirs from Leon himself. We wanted a cozy, lived-in, familiar oyster bar when we opened the restaurant, so we drew inspiration from some of the places we'd visited around the South. After a lunch at a popular New Orleans soul food joint, we decided to add fried chicken to the menu, which has since become a LEON'S standard. We tried to put in a lot of veggies and salads to lighten it up. We've had the good fortune of being welcomed in Charleston and beyond.
