KMFA Studios

KMFA 89.5 is an independent public classical radio station in Austin, TX. KMFA serves approximately 100,000 listeners each week and features locally produced shows like Classical Austin, Early Music Now, and Icons of Broadway, as well as nationally distributed programming from Public Radio International, American Public Media, and National Public Radio. For 53 years, KMFA broadcast from a 6,000 square foot leased space. We now own our brand-new, purpose-built 18,000 square foot home. KMFA’s new space is engaging and educating future generations of music lovers on-air, online, and in person at our purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility on the shores of Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin. The freestanding KMFA building is the centerpiece of The Hatchery, which has an “urban village” feel. In addition to KMFA, the community hub includes the Rebekah Baines Johnson (RBJ) Center, which provides affordable housing for seniors; retail; offices, and market rate rentals on its 17.8-acre site.
