Kimbell Art Museum

In addition to its outstanding collections, the Kimbell Art Museum, which is owned and maintained by the Kimbell Art Foundation, is worldwide famous for its stunning architecture. Its collections span the ages from antiquity to the twentieth century and include European masterpieces by artists such as Fra Angelico, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Bernini, Velázquez, Monet, Cézanne, Picasso and Matisse; important collections of Egyptian and classical antiquities; as well as works by artists from Asia, Africa, and the Ancient Americas. The Kimbell Museum is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta. The museum's 1972 structure, built by American architect Louis I. Kahn, is widely recognized as one of the most brilliant architectural accomplishments of the modern age. It was dedicated to the memory of the late architect Louis I. Kahn. Opening in 2013, the second building, built by world-renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano, currently houses special exhibitions, dedicated classrooms, and a 289-seat auditorium with superb acoustics for music performances.
