About Hammond Castle Museum
The castle was the home and laboratory of John Hays Hammond Jr., widely recognized as “The Father of Radio Control.” Hammond was one of the 20th century's most prolific inventors, with an extensive list of over 500 patents world-wide, groundbreaking work in radio control, and significant contributions to guided torpedo technology for the military. These achievements and more are showcased at the Museum. The Museum offers guided and self-guided tours, as well as a diverse array of educational and cultural events throughout the year. It is also available for private event rentals including weddings, celebrations, elopements and private engagements. The Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Constructed between 1926 and 1929 and established as a museum in 1930.
