About CR Smith Museum
If you're planning a special occasion, the American Airlines CR Smith Museum is an excellent choice. You may use it for a business reception, private celebration, wedding ceremony or reception, charity fundraising, awards ceremony, breakfast meeting, team building event, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, and many other types of events. Because it opened its doors in 1993, the CR Smith Museum has provided a vibrant learning environment in which exhibitions and educational activities excite and engage visitors of all ages. Through hands-on, immersive experiences, it contributes to increasing the general public's awareness of commercial aviation, airline operations, and the broader impact of flying and air transportation on our global society. While the Museum's collections, special exhibitions, and educational programs are the primary means by which these subjects are illustrated, the Museum also uses its collections, special exhibitions, and educational programs to educate school children and teens, families, and life-long learners about the science, technology, and history of aviation in general, and the history of aviation in the Dallas/Fort Worth region specifically. While the history and accomplishments of American Airlines are the primary means by which these subjects are illustrated, the Museum also uses its collections, special exhibitions, and The Museum is dedicated to serving as a primary resource for education in North Texas, and in order to accomplish this, it places science and social studies learning in a historical context by relating and illustrating the accomplishments of the airline industry in the region, as well as human stories of creativity and technological advancement, among other things. With exhibits that relay the current and historical achievements of the men and women involved in revolutionizing the aerospace industry with an emphasis on the contributions of those associated with American Airlines, the Museum has created a platform that illustrates the science behind flight and space exploration; infuses science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education through entertainment throughout the galleries; and inspires the next generation of scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. History comes to life at the Museum, as do scientific principles that are readily comprehended. It is a superb illustration of why museums have emerged as one of the most successful methods of offering informal education, particularly to kids in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. A powerful social environment for learning and support for schools and teachers as they strive to meet the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum. Through hands-on, activity-based exhibits and programs, museums have been shown to spur creativity and innovation as well as improve empirical thinking, communication skills, and literacy in students of all ages. Museum visits are enjoyable, lead to measurable increases in motivation among those who attend, particularly children, and introduce and encourage students' interest in careers in the subjects of their collections – in this case, the aviation industry – through their exhibits and educational programs, among other benefits.
