About Calcasieu
Conveniently located just two blocks from the Convention Center, Calcasieu offers four private dining rooms, which combine a New Orleans Warehouse feel with modern design, creating a perfect backdrop for any type of gathering. The large-scale windows, the building’s masonry and heavy timber construction, and the second story vantage point make Calcasieu a perfect spot to take in the bustling Warehouse District. The 1850s Leeds – Davis Building, which houses the Preservation Resource Center and is located at 923 Tchoupitoulas Street, is just three blocks from the convention center and close to other attractions such as the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Contemporary Arts Center, and the National World War II Museum. With its extraordinary cast-iron Gothic Revival facade, the three-story building was designed by the firm of Gallier and Turpin for the Leeds Iron Foundry and constructed in 1853 as part of the company's expansion plans. The building has been designated as having national architectural significance by the Historic District Landmarks Commission and has been given the color purple. It is possible to host cocktail events for up to 300 people at the Preservation Resource Center, as well as sit-down dinners for groups of up to 75 people. Chefs Donald Link and Stephen Stryjewski's Louisiana cuisine will cater all of the events. They have received multiple James Beard awards for their work. The open atrium is flooded with natural light thanks to the abundance of floor to ceiling windows. Museum visitors can get a feel for the New Orleans culture and neighborhoods by visiting the exhibits on the city's historic districts and architecture.
