This mansion, built by the family of Mesa's first mayor, Alexander MacDonald, is a sentimental tribute to Mesa's history and antiquity. Alexander passed this house down to his son, James, in keeping with the family history of strong morals. He and his wife had nine children, which was more than enough to occupy the house. The residence was given the name James A. MacDonald House when it applied for the appropriate permissions to build an extension, marking the beginning of its documented history.
