Ismail and Betul Uslu are the owners of Agora DC and Agora Tysons, which are both family-owned and operated. Ismail worked tirelessly for three years, devoting his time and energy to improving every aspect of Agora. In 2008, he made the decision to take a leap of faith and purchase the entire company, Agora DC. As of 2016, Betul had decided to leave her banking career to devote her full attention to her roles at Agora DC and Agora Tysons. Betul specializes in private events, whereas Ismail is more focused on restaurant operations and bringing the essence and soul of the places he works by bringing his Turkish culture and hospitality to the United States and Canada. Ismet Sahin, the Executive Chef, was born and raised in Marmaris, Turkey, and he introduces us to the country's diverse cuisine and gastronomy. Ismet Chef hails from the same region of Turkey as Ismail Uslu, and the energy at Agora is a perfect match for their personalities and styles. He began his career at Agora DC and, as his career progressed, he assumed responsibility for both Agora's DC and Tysons. Ismet's various ventures in Turkey, including his work with chefs at five-star hotels, have added a great deal of flavor to Agora and expanded the variety of food options available. In the heart of the bustling Dupont Circle neighborhood, Agora D.C., a family-owned Mediterranean Mezze Restaurant, offers aromatic elements and textures inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Turkey, blended with flavors from Greece and Lebanon. Executive Chef Ismet Sahin, a native of southern Turkey, focuses on delivering the familiarity of traditional Turkish cuisine with a modern twist inspired by seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and international spices, according to the chef.
