My fascination with flowers began when I was a tiny boy, and I would relish the opportunity to spend time in my Grandmother's garden in rural Iowa.... Even at such a young age, the thought of wandering amid the blossoms and foliage, soaking in the beauty of it all, caught my imagination. She created an atmosphere of calm with her flowers, and it was without a doubt my most beloved and particular spot. Flowers have always been a favorite of mine. Floral design had its start 20 years ago when a dear friend requested numerous people in her group to help her plan her wedding flowers. With little knowledge of practical flower care, we put her bouquets in the refrigerator the night before the wedding and left them there till the next day. That first wedding, no matter how small (and perhaps humiliating) it was, kindled a lifelong love in me, and after many years of training and research, it became evident that beautiful flowers were my contribution to the world. Thistle Floral Design is a high-end, boutique floral design company located in the heart of historic downtown McKinney. Because I work in an environment that is rich with history and nostalgia from historic homes, I am reminded on a daily basis of my grandmother's garden. The Thistle Floral Design studio serves as my "happy spot," where I enjoy the chance to create for others. We provide wedding floral design services, special event floral design, and floral design training to our clients.
