In 2005, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, brothers Percy and Richard Anderson laid the groundwork for what would later become the Kinfolk Brass Band. Kinfolk Brass Band is at the forefront of the New Orleans Brass Band renaissance. The band plays a style of music that encompasses and melds Mardi Gras Indian chants, New Orleans funk, modern jazz, and traditional brass band sounds. The band has played at festivals, weddings, jazz funerals, and large corporate events all over the world, including while they were on tour in Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, and Turkey, as well as France.
